I grew up Bloomfield, a small, rural town located in the southeast corner of lowa. After high school, I attended Upper lowa University as a student-athlete running both cross country and track. I majored in both Business Administration and Criminal Justice and graduated magna cum laude. During my time at Upper lowa University, I was involved in reforming our university’s criminal justice club and assisted in preparation from criminal defense trials with professors who did pro bono criminal defense work. Being involved in these criminal defense cases is what began my interest in a legal career.
In 2017. I moved from the lowa to Arkansas to attend the William H. Bowen School of Law. During my time at law school, I clerked for a wide variety of firms, as well as the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office in the Civil Litigation Department and Electric Cooperative of Arkansas. I was also Dean of a legal fraternity and received a top score in Criminal Procedure. In 2020, I received my Juris Doctorate after graduating cum laude. In September of 2020, I moved to Fort Smith and began practicing as an attorney. Since being licensed, I have worked as a general practitioner and have experience in the following areas: domestic relations, adoption, personal injury, real property/estate issues, estate planning and probate, social security disability, contract, and other various civil matters.
As an attorney at the Law Offices of David Powell, I continue to practice civil matters with an emphasis on estate planning, probate, and real estate issues. I am passionate about representing and explaining the legal process to those individuals who are not very familiar or intimidated by our legal system. Overall, if I represent you in the future I promise clear communication, dedication, and hard work to achieve your own unique goal or outcome.
